Do you know…

90 % of the electronics in e-bikes can be delivered by TOP-electronics

More and more people are using e-bikes. They have gained popularity due to their eco-friendliness and convenience.

Developing an e-bike involves a combination of mechanical, electrical, and software engineering.

When we start with the control-unit, the Yeebo LCD with touch screen is perfectly suitable for outside use. It’s driven by an ASUS IoT Thinker-board or SOM from GRINN, where the switches are coming from Summit Electronics. And all of this is in a PacTec custom-enclosure.

Communication with the bike is done by a cellular solution from Quectel, and an antenna from 2J Antennas. For security purpose you want to know the location so the GNSS is from Quectel, and the antenna from Raltron Electronics. For example the motion sensor from CEVA will detect movement while the bike is locked and is able to give an alarm thru the 4G communication.

An nice feature is when you can talk and listen to your bike by using MEMS mics from Goermicro, and CUI Devices for speaker. Both of them are converted by a CODEC from Tempo Semiconductor.

The control of the lock can be done by the low power microcontroller from Ambiq. That is driving a stepper-motor for lock / up-lock and can talk by Bluetooth to the central unit, thru an Summit Electronics antenna. The MCU will be supported by a crystal oscillator from Raltron Electronics.

To charge the battery the FSP Technology has a wide range of battery-chargers specific for e-bikes. The connector of the charger can be customized, and the input of the battery is protected by TVS protection and resettable fuses from Fuzetec Technology.
